NOTICE OF CANDIDATE FILING DATES
The following City of Backus, Minnesota offices will be voted for at the state general election on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
Mayor – 2 Year Term
City Council – 2 Positions/4 Year Term
Candidates may begin filing for these offices on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 through Tuesday, August 13, 2024, during regular City Hall business hours. The office of the clerk will also be open from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm on August 13, 2024, for candidates to file.
Candidates must file in person at the office of the City Clerk, 112 King Street South, P.O. Box 44, Backus, MN 56435. Candidates must complete an affidavit of candidacy and pay a $2.00 filing fee at time of filing.
Candidates who will be absent from the state during the filing period may arrange to file in person with the Clerk within seven days prior to departure by giving a written affidavit of reasons for absence and completing all other filing documents.
